Description

Afro-British musician (1875-1912), known as the 'Black Mahler,' who takes a place among the earliest black composers to work in a classical idiom. Vintage matte-finish 3.5 x 5.5 postcard photo of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor for the 1902 Sheffield Musical Festival, signed in the lower border in fountain pen, "Yours sincerely, S. Coleridge-Taylor, Oct. 31st." In fine condition, with light overall soiling, and some old mounting remnants on the back.
