Description

TLS, one page, 8 x 10.5, Executive Mansion letterhead, April 10, 1930. Letter to Arnold T. Koch of the firm Roosevelt & O'Connor, in full: "I am still concerned over the question of right of way. If we quitclaim the lines, poles, etc., as they now are located on the Meriwether Reserve, we may be giving them at the same time an implied easement to keep them there forever. It is my thought that we should add a paragraph renting o the Georgia Power Company the right to cross our land at the present location, making this lease of the right run for, say five to ten years, at a rental of $1.00 a year, but subject to cancellation on six months or one year's notice. This is what I have done at Hyde Park and the local company kicked like a steer but finally signed up. In other words, what I have in the back of my head is that the situation may so develop five or ten years from now that we may wish to generate our own power, not only for ourselves but for all cottage owners and we should have at that time the right, if necessary, to throw out the Georgia Power Company all together." In fine condition, with two file holes to the left side.
