Description

Graded by PSA NM-MT 8. Very sharp card, strong color, clear registration and clean surfaces front and back. Only 15 examples grade higher than this offered piece. The beauty of this card is enhanced by the smooth glossy surface and undisturbed edges. The strong reverse is perfectly centered and is without the usual gum staining. A gorgeous second year card for Mantle that captures him in a resplendent pose, youthful but poised for greatness. While 1951 was Mickey Mantle's rookie season, it was the 1952 baseball season which solidified Mantle's career as a bona fide superstar and tremendous clutch player. In the 1952 World Series, with the Yankees down 3 games to 2, the 20 year old Mantle homered late in both Games 6 and 7 to lead the Yankees to their fourth straight World Series crown. Strong NM-MT condition.
