Two free franks from significant 19th century politicians: a 5.5 x 3.25 panel addressed in another hand to "E. Hunn, Esq." in Philadelphia, franked in the upper right corner, "William H. Seward"; and a 5.5 x 3.25 panel addressed in Webster's hand to "Z. Collins Lee, Esq." in Baltimore, franked in the upper right, "Dan'l Webster." The recipient of Webster's cover, Zaccheus Collins Lee, was a jurist who served as district attorney for Maryland, and is remembered as a friend and classmate of Edgar Allan Poe. In very good to fine condition, with old tape stains to the tears on the Seward envelope.
