United States Air Force test pilot (1931-1966) selected as a NASA astronaut in 1963 and assigned to the crew of Gemini 9 with Elliot See; Bassett and See were killed on February 28, 1966, when their T-38 trainer jet crashed into McDonnell Aircraft Building 101. Scarce vintage ballpoint signature, "Best Wishes, Charlie Bassett,” on an off-white 5 x 3 card. In very fine condition.
