German general (1848-1916) who served as the Chief of the German General Staff from 1906 to 1914. LS in German, signed “v. Moltke,” one page, 5.75 x 7.75, May 28, 1908. Letter responding to birthday wishes, written from Berlin, in part (translated): "You were so thoughtful to remember my birthday with a friendly good luck wish. For this I beg you to let me put my thanks at your feet and enclose the assurance of respect." In fine condition.
