TLS, one page, 6 x 8, Allied Force Headquarters letterhead, May 31, 1943. Letter to Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Campbell, in full: "I think you will be interested and proud to have the enclosed medal awarded in absentia to your son, Craig, by the Sultan of Morocco. The medal is a sincere compliment from the Sultan who has been an active and ardent ally in the fighting. Perhaps the most colorful of our forces are the Goums, who are subjects of the Sultan. We have not yet received from the Sultan the formal certificate which goes with this decoration. When it is received I will see that it is forwarded to you. Mrs. Eisenhower sent a copy of Craig's letter written from the prison camp, presumably in Germany. I am glad to know he was unwounded and is making the best of his situation." In very good to fine condition, with creasing, primarily to the right side.
