British Army officer during the Second World War (1896-1974) who played an important role in the East African, North African and Italian Campaigns. Two items: an ALS, one page, 4.5 x 7.5, High Commissioner's House, October 24, 1949, in full: "Thank you for your letter. I am always ready to do anything I can for American friends of my country. My best wishes to your wife and yourself"; and a vintage matte-finish 4 x 6 photo of Robertson wearing his military uniform, affixed to the original 5.5 x 8 studio mount, signed on the mount in fountain pen, "Brian H. Robertson, Germany, Oct. 1949." Reverse bears a Walter Stoneman photography stamp. In overall very good to fine condition, with a paperclip impression to the top edge, and a short tear to the left edge, of each item.
