TLS as president, one page, 7 x 8.75, White House letterhead, March 3, 1906. Letter to Charles Emory Smith, editor of the Philadelphia Press and former United States Postmaster General, in full: "Does the enclosed copy of my letter to the Attorney General cover Judge Townsend's case? Tell your friends that in the language of 'Alice Through the Looking-Glass' what the President tells them three times is true—and I have said this thirty times three." In very good to fine condition, with faint toning, and a light old tape stain near the bottom edge. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope.
