Partly-printed DS, signed “Edward RI,” one page, 21 x 15.75, March 30, 1936. King Edward appoints James Heffernan to be an "Officer in Our Royal Air Force…in the Rank of Flying Officer." Signed in the upper left corner by the king. In very good to fine condition, with scattered light creasing, a central vertical fold, and areas of toning, particularly to the left side. As Edward VIII reigned only from January 20-December 11, 1936, any document signed as king is extremely scarce.
