Description

Governor Reagan compares trade in Taiwan and China

TLS signed “Ron,” one page, 8.5 x 11, State of California Governor's Office letterhead, November 22, 1971. Letter to Mr. and Mrs. Ken Brown, in part: "The Orient journey was very interesting and informative. We were particularly impressed by the people of Taiwan. They have made great progress and with fourteen million people they exceed the world trade of the Mainland with its seven hundred million. More than that, however, there was a great spirit." In very good to fine condition, with light irregular toning, and staple holes to the upper left corner. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. Acting as President Nixon's special representative, Governor Reagan visited Taiwan in 1971, where he told reporters that 'the American commitment is to a further strengthening of ties and to continuing the friendship between our two governments and our two peoples.'
