Douglass Dumbrille's screen-worn coat from his role as Governor Ferdinand Claiborne in the 1938 adventure film The Buccaneer, a story of the Battle of New Orleans produced and directed by Cecil B. DeMille. The ornate dark maroon coat features six mirror-finish golden buttons on the front with a hook-and-latch closure mechanism, beautiful gold ribbon trim, and long tails in the back. The interior is lined in black satin, with a Western Costume Co. tag sewn in the back, annotated, "Dumbrille." In fine condition, with fading to shoulders.
