Description

A pair of items from two of the best golfers, and intense personal competitors of all time, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. First is a leather-bound gilt-edged book entitled 'A Golfer's Life Arnold Palmer,' limited edition and numbered 903/1000, signed boldly on the title page "Arnold Palmer" in black felt tip ("10/10"). Second item is a 7.75 x 10.5 inch typed letter on Nicklaus's personal letterhead sent to John F. McGillicuddy, Chairman of Manufacturer's Hanover Bank, dated May 27, 1986. This was only a month after Nicklaus won the 1986 Masters, a tremendous victory, which is one of the greatest golfing wins of all time. In part: "As you may be aware, prior to the Masters I had hoped to be able to play Westchester. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you look at it, after winning the Masters my schedule changed drastically...Now that I'm faced with the opportunity to win the second leg of the Grand Slam and recognizing the amount of practice necessary to do so, I realized that it's going to be impossible to fit Westchester into the schedule." Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from James Spence Authentication (JSA) for the Palmer book, and a basic JSA certificate for the Nicklaus letter.
