Exceptional vintage matte-finish 7 x 8.75 photo of Douglas MacArthur seated on an airplane and wearing his uniform with jacket and hat, signed in fountain pen. Double-matted and framed to an overall size of 13.5 x 15. In very good to fine condition, with silvering to the darker areas of the image, and some fading to the signature. On 18 April 1942, MacArthur was appointed Supreme Commander of Allied Forces in the Southwest Pacific Area (SWPA). He was promoted to General of the Army shortly before the end of 1944. A desirable uninscribed portrait.
