Description

Wilson's idealistic support of "a constant renewal of fidelity to the purest conceptions of democracy"

TLS as president, one page, 7 x 8.75, White House letterhead, November 23, 1920. Letter to Thomas F. Compton, in full: "Will you not convey my cordial greetings to the First Annual New York State Convention of the Young Americans' Democratic League which is to convene on November twenty-second? It is the young men of the country who must correct the reaction and pessimism of some of the older men and push forward towards a realization of the genuine ideals of the republic, ideals which cannot be lived up to without courage and a constant renewal of fidelity to the purest conceptions of democracy and of international responsibility. My best wishes will follow the deliberations of the convention, and I shall hope for it the most entire success and the most widespread influence." In very good to fine condition, with two horizontal creases.
