Beautiful original concept artwork by Kazuhiko Sano for the one-sheet poster for Prince's 1986 film Under the Cherry Moon, accomplished in acrylic paint on 19.5 x 27 illustration board. The brilliant painting shows Prince as Christopher Tracy and Kristin Scott Thomas as Mary Sharon, superimposed over the full 'cherry moon' and gorgeous landscape of the French Riviera. In fine condition. The one-sheet poster issued for Under the Cherry Moon retained Kazuhiko Sano's general design, but used much more 'posterized' imagery than the realistic artwork rendered here. A prolific poster artist of the 1970s and 1980s, Kazuhiko Sano is best remembered for creating the Return of the Jedi 'Style B' poster, the first Jedi poster to feature a collage of characters.
