Partly-printed DS as president, one page, 21 x 15.75, March 11, 1901. President McKinley appoints Walter C. Chidester as "Assistant Surgeon of Volunteers with the rank of Captain, in the service of the United States." Signed at the conclusion by McKinley, and countersigned by Secretary of War Elihu Root. Blue War Office seal remains affixed to lower left corner. In very good to fine condition, with intersecting folds, scattered light creasing, and a few light stains.
