Description

Two items signed by innovators:

Cyrus Field - LS
American industrialist (1819-1892) who financed the first permanently operational transatlantic telegraph cable. LS signed “Cyrus W. Fields,” one page, 5 x 8, April 20, 1877. Letter to a gentleman, in part: "I have received your letter of 18th Instant, in regard to the Telephone. My time is at present so much occupied with several important matters that I have had no leisure to devote to an examination into the merits of the invention. If it succeeds in doing all that its friends claim for it, there is no doubt it will create a revolution in telegraphy. I would suggest that you obtain copies of what has been printed in regard to it. No doubt Professor Elisha Gray of Chicago will give you information in regard to it." In fine condition.

Edward Teller - SP
Hungarian-born nuclear physicist (1908-2003) who worked with Fermi on the Manhattan Project and later assumed a leading role in the development of the hydrogen bomb. Glossy 8 x 10 head-and-shoulders photo of Teller holding his glasses, signed along the bottom in black felt tip. In fine condition, with a few small stains in the top border.
