Graham Leonard, in full: "Thank you for your letter of 23 November from which I note that you wish to resign your See on 8 May 1991. I am taking steps to inform The Queen and my office will let you know as soon as this has been done. I understand your wish to make a public announcement in good time and this will no doubt be appreciated by the Crown Appointments Commission." Thatcher adds the salutation in her own hand.
