'Live Forever' was released as the third single from Oasis' debut album Definitely Maybe on August 8, 1994. Inspired by the Rolling Stones song 'Shine a Light,' Gallagher first wrote the song in 1991, before he joined Oasis. Gallagher's brother Liam is on record stating that it's his favorite song to play because he believes the song was written for their mother, Peggy.
