Group of three TLSs, four total pages, each approximately 4.5 x 7, Hogsland, Perry Green letterhead, dated between 1946 and 1948, each addressed to fellow sculptor Ivan Rigby of the Pratt Institute. The earliest letter, September 9, 1946, in part: "I am working hard getting ready for an exhibition at the Leicester Galleries this October, and I am beginning to be busy with the arrangements for the exhibition of my work at the Museum of Modern Art." The second letter, November 19, 1946, in part: "I have had several requests already to lecture or give talks while I'm over there on my visit but I have refused them all. I find that talking or lecturing in public does not come easily to me and is a worry and distraction. If I do it one place I might find I should have no excuse for not doing it in other places and so I have told The Museum of Modern art that I would rather not do any talking or lecturing whatever." The third and final letter, December 21, 1948, in part: "I am working hard. The Buchholz Gallery's having an exhibition of my drawings in a few months time, I think. I hope in a year or two's time I may make my second visit to the U.S. and then I hope we shall meet again." Moore makes a few corrections to the text in his own hand. In overall fine condition, with light show-through from old adhesive residue on the reverse of the September letter. Accompanied by two original mailing envelopes.
