Original stapled cue sheet for the 27th Annual Grammy Awards held on February 26, 1985, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California, 15 pages, 8.5 x 11. The document was originally distributed to cast and crew of the telecast during rehearsals. The cue sheet includes a minute-by-minute description of each segment, with the first 10 pages listing the event’s total 106 sequences, which consist of breaks and commercials, introductions, performances, and awards. Prince is listed on page 9 with sequences 92-95, which notes the appearance of Mike Melvoin and his subsequent introduction of Prince and The Revolution and their performance of ‘Baby, I’m a Star.’ The last sheet in the ‘Call Times’ section notes Prince’s time at 11:00 a.m. In fine condition, with a light vertical fold. From the collection of Prince’s assistant tour manager Gwen Leeds and accompanied by a letter of provenance. Prince was nominated for five awards that night, winning three—two for Purple Rain (Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media), and another as the songwriter for Chaka Kahn’s hit ‘I Feel For You’ (Best Rhythm & Blues Song). To cap off the night’s success, Prince and the Revolution stole the show with their tremendous rendition of ‘Baby, I’m a Star.’ A fascinating, behind-the-scenes glimpse at how the Grammys run, and an uncommon keepsake for one of Prince's most legendary televised performances.
