Letter to a colonel in New York, in full: "Yours of the 16th instant came duly to hand and was read with satisfaction. In the great pressure of work upon me I have only time to thank you. With pleasant memories and kind regards." Double-matted and framed with a portrait to an overall size of 16.75 x 12.75. In fine condition. Garfield had been elected to the presidency just days earlier on November 2nd, and carried his correspondent's home state of New York by a three-percent margin.
