In full: "Received of the Treasurer of the Treasurer of the Hudson River Rail Road Company Five hundred & sixty dollars the amount of interest due to me on the 1 February last on sixteen Bonds of $1000 each of the first Mortgage of the said Company held & owned by me, Nos. 100, 101, 102, 103, 267, 1507, 1889, 1890, 1891, 3532, 3533, 3534, 73, 1730, 3275, & 4024." In fine condition, with several intersecting folds, and old mounting remnants on reverse corners. Buchanan had been sworn in as the 15th president of the United States on March 4, 1857.
