Description

Leading French modernist composer during the interwar period (1869-1937). ALS in French, one page, 4.5 x 6.25, postmarked February 16, 1928. Letter to conductor Felix Raugel about his suite for large symphony orchestra, 'La Festin de l'Araignee [The Spider's Feast].' In part (translated): "I learn with pleasure of the success of the Spider's Feast at the Philharmonic in Reims...and I congratulate you most heartily on the success you obtained in performing this little piece which presents considerable performing difficulties, especially for a provincial orchestra." In fine condition, with some paper loss to edges.
