Marky Ramone’s tour-used drum hardware road case from circa 1977, measuring 33 x 29 x 15.5, with a foam-lined 24 x 15 x 8.5 front compartment and 29.5 x 9 x 9.5 rear compartment. The black-textured plywood case features four casters and four handles, each with a Pro Case label affixed below. Included with the case: a stage-used 25″ clear Remo Weather King Pinstripe bass drumhead, signed in black felt tip, “Marky Ramone,” adding “98” on the affixed central felt strip; a stage-used 22″ Paiste Rude ride/crash cymbal #60066; a set of eight Vic Firth drumsticks, 16.25″ in length, from one of Marky’s endorsement deals; two sets of Pearl Super Hoop snare rings (top and bottom); a full Pearl hi-hat stand with a replacement cymbal rod; unused Pearl two-way and three-way stand adaptors; an unused Pearl tom mount for a bass drum; two sets of floor tom legs; a pair of snare stands; a Pearl cymbal stand; the bottom half of a cymbal stand, and the top half of a vintage auxiliary drum holder. Expected wear and soiling to hardware and road case, with disintegration to interior foam, otherwise overall fine condition. Oversized. Accompanied by letters of provenance from CJ Ramone, Ramones tour manager Monte Melnick, and Ramones guitar tech Matt Loyla, all of which confirm the authenticity of the kick drum road case and Warren Cohen’s close ties to the band as their assistant tour manager. The letter from Matt Loyla reads, in part: “I can confirm that these road cases were used by The Ramones for both domestic and international tours. The smaller case, which dates back to 1977, was used to house and transport drum hardware (snare stands, cymbal stands, ect). I can be very specific about the year of that case because we needed to replace all of the band’s gear after our equipment truck was stolen at the conclusion of our 1977 tour with Iggy Pop...as far as I know, they were both used by the band until their retirement.” This incredibly well-documented piece of punk rock history was present from Marky’s beginnings with the Ramones in 1978, through to the band’s dissolution in 1996, and even during a good portion of his post-Ramones work.
