Amazing 1936 Donald Duck toys by Fisher Price, with rare production artwork
Description                           Estimate: $5,000 - $6,000

Remarkable collection of three original 1936 Donald Duck pull toys created by Fisher Price with matching original production artwork. Includes one example of the ‘Choo Choo’ toy, measuring approximately 8 x 7 x 3, and two examples of the ‘single’ toy, each measuring approximately 4 x 6.5 x 2.25. All retain their pull strings. Also includes the original production artwork used in making the first Donald Duck toy, accomplished in gouache on an off-white 7.5 x 9.5 sheet, surrounded by several pencil production notations. Of particular interest is that the character’s front foot has been repainted in a different position, with a previous flat-footed version visible beneath the green paint. Artwork is double-matted and framed to an overall size of 14.75 x 17.75. In overall very good condition, with scattered staining and soiling to the sheet, and various chips and dings to the toys. This was the first Donald Duck toy produced by Fisher Price, and enjoyed decades of successful sales, continuing to be produced through the 1970s. A wonderful, rare collection of this incredibly early authorized Disney piece—the beginnings of an unparalleled merchandising empire.
